Business Spotlight: Coyote Sage Farm

December 27, 2017

We had the pleasure and honor of visiting the Coyote Sage Farm up in Tierra Amarilla and met with the owners, Conlan and Gayle (and their many animals). What gorgeous country and views. The farm specializes in Red Devon cattle and Tibetan yaks which are historically bred to be finished on grass unlike many of the typical breeds found in the US. Grass finishing cattle bred tend to consume grain which often results in meat that is tough and not properly marbled for flavor. Their animals graze on high altitude, dry land native grasses which results in happy, healthy and stress-free lives and translates into a better tasting meat. They sell their products at the Santa Fe Farmer's market. They mentioned they are interested in seeing if solar panels makes sense on their farm.
